Christmas Cutback

This year Boston Borough Council has had to make the hard decision to scale back on lights due to shortfalls in budgets. The councillor Ms Abbott has expressed her ‘concerns about the cost-of-living crisis and rising energy costs, says The Lincolnite.

In this year a fifth of families have been struggling with prices rising and salaries dropping, causing many people to cancel Christmas for their family. However, some households have decided to keep Christmas but buy second hand gifts and re-use decorations.  says Chronicle lives

Boston Borough Council has had to deal with similar problems this year. According to a report, a volunteer says that £5,000 will be turned down as they will not be able to renew decorations. The council have had to use the same Christmas lights for 5 years and are 3 years out of warranty.

Councillor Ms Abbott has said that this year there will be a tree that will be decorated and lit.

‘In buying the tree, this also means it can be used again.’ she said.

Despite this Boston promises a merry Christmas to everyone-but will they keep it till the end?
